Kyabirukwa Farm, Milk Collection and Milk Products Processing Parlor Room. (Need: Critical and Immediate)
General Information:
Included within Kyabirukwa Farm are 50 milking cows. Over a year ago the national policy of privatization placed the only buyer of milk in investors’ hands and money has not been paid for the milk for six months with little hope of any reliable payments in the future.
Problem:
A market exists to supply healthy milk products such as yogurt, and cheese to the children of the Kyabirukwa schools, the health care facility and the surrounding communities. A milk collection room and milk products processing parlor, together with a small Biogas Digester to supply power to the Milk Parlor need to be constructed. Also a small, efficient transportation vehicle needs to be purchased to replace a 20 year old Datsun Pickup with a worn-out engine. (Note: A professional feasibility study has been made for building a biogas generator that uses existing cow manure from the milk cows in order to supply sufficient power to operate the refrigeration at the milk parlor and the results are very positive. A 5 KW generator can be easily powered using the existing daily volume of cattle manure as feedstock)
